Let us assume that Rashmi covers a distance of x cm on the map.

The scale and distance in kilometre are directly proportional to each other. So,

$\frac{A}{B}$= Constant
where,
A = distance in cm
B = distance in km

$\frac{A_1}{B_1}$ = $\frac{A_2}{B_2}$

18x = 72

x = $\frac{72}{18}$ = 4 cm
