AD and BC are equal perpendiculars in a line segment AB (see fig 7.18). Show that CD bisect AB.

From figure,

In △OAD & △OBC

∠B=∠A.. .....(90°)

And,

∠AOD=∠COB

And,

AD=BC (given)

So, by AAS congruence criterion rule,

△OAD is congruent to △OBC

Therefore,

OA=OB

Hence,

CD bisects AB
