a) Female reproductive system:

  1. The part which produces the female gamete is ovary.
  2. The part where the development of the baby takes place is uterus.
  3. The part through which the developing embryo passes to reach the uterus is fallopian tube.

b) Development of embryo post implantation:

  1. The developing embryo gets embedded in the wall of the uterus for further development.
  2. The embryo continues to develop in the uterus.
  3. It gradually develops body parts such as hands, legs, head, eyes, ears, etc.
  4. The stage of the embryo in which all the body parts can be identified is called a foetus.
  5. A human embryo becomes a foetus after about 8 weeks of pregnancy.
  6. After completion of development of foetus (i.e. after about 38 weeks or 9 months), mother gives birth to baby.
