An object is placed at 4 cm distance in front of a concave mirror of radius of curvature 24 cm. Find the position of image. Is the image magnified ?

Here, R = 24 cm

So, f = R/2 = -12 cm (Negative as it is a concave mirror)

u = -4 cm

As the object is placed at 4 cm, this means it is present between pole and focus.

Now, $\frac{1}{v}+\frac{1}{u}=\frac{1}{f}\Rightarrow \frac{1}{v}+\frac{1}{-4}=\frac{1}{-12}\Rightarrow v=6cm$

Magnification, $m=\frac{v}{u}=\frac{6}{4}=1.5$

As m > 1, the image is magnified.
