The transmission bandwidth of an optical fiber can go upto 1000THZ . So this can transmit bandwidth of about 1000 times more .The less is very less in optical fibers . They also use infrared waves to send information instead of microwaves .Infrared light has much much higher frequency that's why they can carry much more information .
