Andy and Sandy can run at a speed of 40 cm/s and 50 cm/s respectively. They start their race at 9:00 am. Considering that they are travelling at a uniform speed in the same direction, find the distance between them at 9:20 am.

The correct option is B
120m

Speed of Andy= 40 cm/s

Speed of Sandy= 50 cm/s

Time taken between 9:00 am and 9:20 am = 20 minutes= 20 $\times$ 60 seconds = 1200 seconds

Thus, the distance travelled by Andy = Speed $\times$ Time= 40 $\times$ 1200 = 48000cm = 480m

Distance travelled by Sandy = Speed $\times$ Time= 50 $\times$ 1200= 60000 cm = 600m

The distance between them while running in the same direction= 600- 480 = 120m
