Solution

Species: A species is a group of individuals who are closely related and are able to produce fertile offspring through sexual reproduction.

Variations: The variations are the differences in the characteristics or the traits of individuals of the same species.

Human evolution:

  • There are different human races present all over the globe.
  • These races look different due to variations that have occurred due to the influence of environmental conditions.
  • All the races of humans share the same ancestral species, that is, Homo sapiens.
  • This species existed in Africa, from this place only, migrations of humans into different directions occur.
  • The migrations of the individuals did not cause the migrated populations to evolve to form new species.
  • This is because the gene flow kept occurring, the individuals kept coming back to Africa and moving to other parts. Therefore, all races can sexually reproduce with each other. The reproductive barrier is not there.
  • The different races of humans can still interbreed or produce offspring through sexual reproduction with each other.
  • Hence, different races belong to the same species only.
