Pluripotent cells

  1. Cells with the ability to divide into most or all cell types of an organism
  2. But not into an entire organism.
  3. Examples- embryonic stem cells.
  4. These cells are found in the inner cell mass of a human embryo.

Meristems

  1. Undifferentiated cells in plants with a self-renewal ability are called meristems.
  2. They can actively divide throughout their lifetime.
  3. Location- root & shoot tips, leaves & internodes, and lateral side of roots & stems.
  4. Therefore, meristems are considered pluripotent.
