The epidermis is the outermost layer of plants, this is followed by the hypodermis which is a layer of tissue that provides protection. Then comes the general undifferentiated cortex which helps in storage. This layer is followed by a single layer of endodermis which separates the cortex from the pericycle. The innermost tissue layer is the pericycle.
