i) The European Economic Community (EEC) was established in 1957. France, West Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, who had signed the Treaty of Paris, further signed the Treaties of Rome, establishing the EEC.
ii) The EU came into existence in the year 1992. It marked a turning point in the integration of Europe. The treaty provided for the creation of the common currency, Euro.
iii) The ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) was established in 1994. It is considered as the key forum for carrying out security dialogues and discussions as well as for promoting peace and stability in the Asian region.
iv) China joined the WTO in 2001 This has led to further integration of China with the world economy.
