Mahabalipuram is a famous tourist city in Chennai that attracts people from all over the world. According to popular sources, Mahabalipuram was a flourishing port city ruled by the Pallava Dynasty in the 7th and 8th century. Mahamalla or Narsinh Varman I of the Pallava Dynasty built seven chariot temples. However, two of the seven temples got submerged in the sea.
