Deplating is the opposite of electroplating and is in-fact also known as reverse electroplating. In this process, the object to be deplated is used as the anode while the recovered metal is deposited on a cathode which is obviously the opposite of what's done during electroplating. Hence, it can be inferred that just as electroplating helps with plating metals such as gold, silver and other valuable metals, reverse electroplating helps in recovering them.
