The correct option is B If both assertion and reason are CORRECT, but reason is NOT THE CORRECT explanation of the assertion.
Hexane has 6 carbon atoms and pentane has 5 carbon atoms and thus the surface area of hexane is more than pentane. Therefore more the surface area, higher is the boiling point.
Similarly, as n-alkanes have higher surface than their respective isoalkanes, n-alkanes have greater Van der Waal's force, so higher boiling point.
