The correct option is B Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
Pure alumina melts at about 2000°C and is a bad conductor of electricity. If fused cryolite and fluorspar are added, the mixture melts at 900°C and Al2O3 becomes a good conductor of electricity and metallic Al is liberated at the cathode.
So, in the extraction of aluminium by electrolytic process alumina Al2O3 is used along with fluorspar and cryolite.

Thus, both assertion and reason are correct but reason is not the correct explanation for assertion.
