Gateway reaction is also called as link reaction or transition reaction. It is the linking reaction between glycolysis and TCA cycle. In this reaction, pyruvate is converted into acetyl Co-A and carbon dioxide is liberated. It is called as oxidative decarboxylation. It occurs in the presence of enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase. Acetyl Co-A thus produced enters the TCA cycle which takes place in the mitochondria. However, in the given question, reason is not correct explanation for the assertion.
Thus, the correct answer is option B.
