Hydrogen has electronic configuration of 1s1.

Alkali they are metals & halogen are nonmetals but the similar property between all of them is they need just 1 electron to donate or accept or share i.e. their valency is 1 .

So hydrogen is similar to alkali and halogen nonmetals.

Hence it can be placed in either.

Option A is correct.
