The correct option is B Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
The solubility of potassium carbonate is higher than the solubility of sodium carbonate. Hence, when carbon dioxide is passed through a concentrated KCl solution contained ammonia, potassium carbonate is not precipitated. 
Hence, it cannot be prepared by the Solvay process.

As the electropositive character increases down the group, the stability of the carbonates and hydrogen carbonates increases.

So Option (B) is correct.
