KCl is more likely to show Schottky defect as the size of K+ and Cl are comparable which is found in the Schottky defect.
While Frenkel defect is found where the size of the cation is smaller than anion.
In LiCl the size of Li+ ion is very small as compared to the size of Cl ion. Thus, it shows a Frenkel defect.
So, Assertion and reason both are correct and the reason is the correct explanation.
