Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
$$PbS$$ i.e. lead sulfide is insoluble in excess of $$NaOH$$ $$(sodium$$ $$hydroxide)$$. This is because, lead sulfide has a low solubility product which makes it insoluble when $$sodium$$ $$hydroxide$$ is used in excess.
Also, $$PbS$$ has low solubility product than lead $$hydroxide$$ i.e. $$Pb(OH)_2$$.
