Question

Assertion :Sometimes it happens that when H2S gas is passed into solutions in .dil. HCl, yellowish white turbidity appears. Reason: The yellowish turbidity is due to colloidal sulphur, formed by oxidation of H2S by the presence of NO3 or NO2orSO23
H2S+HNO3S(colloidal)
Before passing H2S gas, solution is boiled so as to decompose these radicals.

Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
The yellowish turbidity is due to formation of colloidal sulphur. It is formed by oxidation of H2S by the presence of NO3 or NO2orSO23
