  • Across the period in the periodic table, atomic size decreases up to halogens but increases in noble gases. This is because in case of inert or noble gases all the orbitals are completely filled and hence inter electronic repulsions are maximum.
  • In case of noble gases atomic radius is determined by van der waals radius and as we know that van der waals radius is larger than the ionic radius that is in case of halogens. Hence the atomic size of noble gases is larger than that of halogens.
  • Hence option A is correct answer.
