At the beginning of a month, a factory has enough materials to make 240 tons of steel in a month. If 60 more tons of steel is to be made that month, how long will the materials last?
Case1:
Time taken to make 240 tons of steel =30 days
i.e., Quantity of steel =240 tons
Number of days =30 days.
Case 2:
Here, 60 more tons of steel given.
i.e., Quantity of steel =240+60=300tonnes
Let the required number of days =x
Since, the raw material required to manufacture steel is constant, therefore,
300×x=240×30
⇒x=240×30300
⇒x=24
Hence, required number of days =24 days
Therefore, the materials will last for 24 days if 60 more tons of steel is to be made that month.
