Final velocity of the car $(v) = 0$ (The car stops)
Time $= 20 s$
Acceleration $= \frac{v - u}{t} = \frac{0 - 50}{20} = - 2.5 m / s^{2}$
When it is written as retardation, no negative sign is required.
$∴$ Retardation of the car $= 2.5 m / s^{2}$
