Question

Calculate the heat of the reaction of the following reaction. $$CO_{2 (g)}+ H_{2(g)}+H_{2}O_{(g)}$$
Given that heat of formation of $$CO_{(g)}, H_{2}O_{(g)}$$ and $$CO_{2(g)}$$ are $$-110.4,-242.4$$ and $$-393.0\ kJ$$ mol$$-1$$ respectively.


Solution

$$Co_{2}+ u_{2} \rightarrow Co_{2}+ 4_{2}0$$
$$\triangle u_{r}= (\triangle u_{f} co+ \triangle u_{f} u_{2}0)- (\triangle u_{f} Co_{2}- \triangle u_{f} n_{2})$$
$$\Rightarrow [-110.4+(-242.4)]-[-393+0]$$
$$=-110.4-242.4+393$$
$$=-352.8+393$$
$$\triangle u_{r}=+40.2 u_{r}$$
