Question

Can matter be converted into energy? Explain.

Open in App
Solution

Yes. In any nuclear fission reaction, matter is transformed into energy. It is found that whenever U-236 undergoes a fission reaction, Kr-92, 141-Ba and three neutrons are released. but their masses don't add up to the total mass of the U-236 atom. So some mass is being converted to energy.
