Starch is the main storage polysaccharide of plants. It is the most important dietary source for human beings. The high content of starch is found in cereals. Cellulose occurs exclusively in plants and it is the most abundant organic substance in the plant kingdom. The cell wall of bacteria and plants is made up of cellulose. We build furniture, etc. form cellulose in the form of wood and clothe ourselves with cellulose in the form of cotton fibre.
