Solution

The correct option is B epiblema
The outermost layer of the root is called epiblema. It is made up of a single layer of compactly arranged parenchymatous cells with small amounts of cytoplasm lining the cell wall and a large central vacuole. Some cells of epiblema protrude in the form of root hairs. Root hairs are unicellular and help in the absorption of water and nutrients from the soil.

The cortex is present below the epidermis in stems and the epiblema in roots. In the dicot stem, and both the monocot and dicot roots, the innermost layer of cortex is called the endodermis and is made up of parenchymatous cells. Cortex stores food and helps in the conduction of water and mineral salts.

The pericycle is present below endodermis and is made up of a few layers of parenchyma cells and it helps in the formation of lateral roots.
