Green revolution was introduced in India by Dr. M.S. Swaminathan to solve the crisis of increasing demand of food and shortage of supply. Strategies were devised and employed to increase the agricultural productivity. High yeilding variety (HYV) of seeds along with modern agricultural practices were employed.
Due to the increase in usage of fertilisers, the fertility of the soil decreased. This was a downside of the green revelution.
