Solution

The correct option is A Sodium bisulphite.
Sodium bisulphite (NaHSO4)is used for separation of acetone and acetophenone. Acetophenone (an aromatic and a hindered ketone) does not react with sodium bisulphate due to presence of bulkier group whereas acetone (an aliphatic ketone) reacts with sodium bisulphate to form a solid adduct which can be filtered. Then, it can be decomposed by acid or base to regenerate acetone.
