In HC||OC||OH, in the presence of OH. One CHO is oxidised to COO and other CHO is reduced to CH2OH. Thus, it is not a disproportionation reaction as reduction and oxidation happens within a molecule and therefore it is intramolecular redox reaction. Also, intramolecular redox reaction occurs when we have the oxidizing and reducing agents within one molecule. Thus,HC||OC||OH is reducing as well as oxidising agent.
