Even though no temples or religious structures have been found from the Indus Valley, their society was not atheistic. The Mother goddess was the most venerated god. Animals were worshiped too. Pipal and neem trees were also worshiped and have been found engraved on seals in large numbers. Harappans had many superstitions. They believed that ghosts and evil spirits were capable of harming them and, therefore, used amulets against them.
