The Central Information Commission has been constituted under the Right to Information Act, 2005. Hence, it is not a Constitutional body. The decision of the commission is binding under section 19 (7) of the Act. The Commission consists of the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and Information Commissioners not exceeding 10.

केंद्रीय सूचना आयोग का गठन सूचना अधिकार अधिनियम, 2005 के तहत किया गया है।अतः यह एक संवैधानिक निकाय नहीं है।आयोग का निर्णय अधिनियम की धारा 19 (7) के तहत बाध्यकारी है।आयोग एक मुख्य सूचना आयुक्त (CIC) और सूचना आयुक्तों जिनकी संख्या 10 से अधिक नहीं होती है,से मिलकर बनता है।
