Solution

The correct option is A 1. Cortex, 2. Medulla, 3. Steroid, 4. Aldosterone, 5. Cortisol, 6. Adrenocorticotrophic, 7. Catecholamine, 8. Adrenaline, 9. Noradrenaline, 10. Sympathetic
The adrenal gland is present atop the kidney. Each adrenal gland consists of outer portion adrenal cortex (1) and inner portion adrenal medulla (2). The adrenal cortex secretes steroid (3) hormones which are namely Aldosterone (4), cortisol (5) and sex hormones. The adrenal medulla secretes hormones which have modified amino acids i.e., catecholamines (7); for example, epinephrine (8) and norepinephrine (9). Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) (6) is secreted by anterior pituitary which targets the adrenal cortex to stimulate secretion of corticoids and sex hormones. Secretion and release of hormones by adrenal medulla are regulated by the hypothalamus which sends nerve impulses via brain stem, spinal cord and sympathetic nervous system (10) to adrenal medulla.
Therefore, the correct answer is option A.
