  • It is typically made of small particles of silt and clay and larger particles of sand and gravel.
  • It is found in the areas of northern plains beginning from Punjab to West Bengal and Assam and also in the deltas of Krishna, Godavari, Cauvery and Mahanadi in peninsular India.
