The perpendicular is the height.

The perpendicular divides the base into two equal parts.

$BD=DC=4.5$ cm

then area = $\frac{1}{2}\times 6\times 9=27c{m}^2$

when perpendicular drawn from C

then height =h base = 7.5 cm

$\Rightarrow \frac{1}{2}\times h\times 7.5=27$

$\Rightarrow h=7.2cm$
