Derive an integrated rate equation for rate constant of a zero order reaction.


Solution

Consider a zero order reaction
$$R\rightarrow P$$
Rate $$=\dfrac{-d[R]}{dt}=k[R]^o$$
$$\dfrac{-d[R]}{dt}=k[R]^o$$
$$\dfrac{-d[R]}{dt}=k$$
$$d[R]=-k\cdot dt$$
Integrating on both sides
$$[R]=-kt+I$$  $$(1)$$
$$k=\dfrac{[R]_o-[R]}{t}$$
