Question

Derive the general rule for the perimeter of the rectangle?
( use l and b for length and breadth of the rectangle respectively)
  1. 2(l+b)
  2. 2b
  3. 2l
  4. (l+b)

Solution

The correct option is A 2(l+b)
We know that,
rectangle has opposite sides of equal length.

Length of side AB = Length of side CD
Length of side BC = Length of side AD

now,

perimeter of rectangle
= Length of side AB + Length of side BC + Length of side CD + Length of side DA
= l+b+l+b
= 2l+2b
= 2(l+b)
