Describe muscular system and its functions.


Solution

Muscle tissue is a soft tissue present in human bodies. Muscular tissue is made of "excitable" cells that are capable of contraction. There are three types of muscular tissue :

(i) Cardiac muscle tissue : These are cells present in the heart and they control the contraction and relaxation of heart. There cells are branched and cylindrical. These are involuntary muscles. 

(ii) Skeletal muscle tissue : It is a form of striated muscle tissue which is connected to the skeleton to form part of the mechanical system. 

(iii) Smooth muscle tissue : There cells are cylindrical and unbranched. These muscles control the movement of food in the alimentary canal, thecontraction, and relaxation of blood vessels, etc. They are involuntary muscle.
