Muscle fibre:
  • A muscle fibre is a striated cell of the cardiac and muscle tissue that is capable of contraction so as to bring about force and motion by changing the size and shape of the cell.
  • There are three types of muscle fibres: type I, type IIa and type IIb.

Nerve fibre:
  • A nerve fibre refers to the elongated axon of a nerve cell that functions to transmit electrical impulses away from the nerve body.
  • A nerve fibre may be myelinated or unmyelinated.
