Solution

Instructions: Radcliffe Line and India's relationship with Pakistan.

Solution: On 17 August 1947, the borderline that separated India from Pakistan, known as the Radcliffe Line was revealed. The Radcliffe line is spread through the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat to the international border in Jammu in Jammu & Kashmir, dividing India and Pakistan into two different countries.

After partition, Kashmir became the major reason for the antagonistic relationship between India and Pakistan. The two nations have fought multiple wars due to conflicts between them. The first war was fought in 1947, the second Indo-Pak war took place in 1965 over Kashmir. This war resulted in the signing of the Tashkent Agreement in 1966. Then there was another war fought in 1971 which resulted in the signing of the Shimla Agreement in 1972.

Cross border Terrorism remains our primary concern in our relationship with Pakistan. Multiple terrorist attacks on India, such as the Parliament attack in 2001, the Mumbai attack, and the Pathankot attack, have further strained relations. We may have several conflicts that will take time to resolve, but we do share cultural and economic ties. We have maintained mutual trade relations as well.
