Dissolution of anhydrous salts in water are exothermic reaction. Therefore, dissolution of anhyd. CuSO4 in water will also be exothermic reaction i.e. heat will be released in the reaction.

CuSO4(s) +H2O Cu2+(aq) + SO42-(aq)
