2: Gamete formation and fertilization are key processes. 2: Gamete formation and fertilization are skipped.
3: Progeny carry both parental and new genetic combination; Beneficial new genetic combination impart survival advantange. 3: Progeny is a clone i.e. genetically identical to the parent.
Vegetative reproduction refers to the production of progeny by any vegetative propagule (rhizome, tubers, suckers etc.) without gamete formation and fertilization of male and female gametes. Since gamete formation and fertilization are key processes of sexual reproduction; vegetative mode is considered as asexual one.
