Does a smaller population face a greater threat of extinction or the larger population ? Provide a suitable explanation for your answer

Smaller population have more chances to become extinct as in smaller population less offsprings will be produced while in larger population large number of offsprings will be produced with variation which result in better adaptability towards environment. Also in smaller population inbreeding capability reduces over time making it vulnerable to extinction.
