The erythrocytic cycle of Plasmodium was first described by Camillo Golgi. Hence, it is also called golgi cycle. This cycle is initiated either by the cryptozoites of the pre-erythrocytic cycle or the micro-metacryptozoies of the exo-erythrocytic cycle.
