Solution

Winnowing:

  1. It is a method used to separate lighter components of a mixture by wind or blowing air.

Inertia of rest of grain is more than inertia of rest of husk.

  1. Inertial of rest is the tendency of a body to remain in its state of rest or its inability to change its state of rest by itself
  2. The husk is lighter than the grain.
  3. Thus, by winnowing the heavier grains attains rest immediately and the remaining lighter husk blown a little further.
