Question

Explain the charging by induction in terms of movement of electrons.

Open in App
Solution

Let uncharged conductor B mounted on an insulated stand is placed near positively charged conductor A mounted on an insulated stand without touching. Electrons which are equal in the number of protons in uncharged B are attracted towards +vely charged A. Hence end E is charged negatively called BOUND CHARGE and protons remain at end F of B and is positively charged called FREE charge. This induced charge remains on B so long as body A remains near B.
