The occurrence of vestigial organs on the basis of Lamarck's theory of use and disuse is that continuous and frequent use of an organ, generation after generation becomes more developed and frequent disuse of the organ generation after generation, it will come to an end finally it became extinct.

Example:

  • The giraffe could, over a lifetime of straining to reach high branches, develop an elongated neck.
  • In humans, the vestigial organ is an appendix. Continuous disuse of it, lead to the extinction of appendix.
