Question

Explain van't Hoff rule.

Open in App
Solution

According to the van't Hoff rule, the effect of a change in temperature on a system in equilibrium is to shift the equilibrium in the direction that acts to nullify the temperature change. It means if there is a change in the equilibrium of the system, the system undergoes temperature change such that it nullifies the original change in the equilibrium of the system. For eg. The rate of biochemical reactions doubles every 10° C.
