Question

Factorise the expressions using the common factor method.
$$8x^2y + 4x$$

Solution

$$8 {x}^{2} y + 4x$$
$$= \left( 4x \times 2xy \right) + 4x$$
$$= 4x \left( 2xy + 1 \right)$$
Therefore,
$$8 {x}^{2} y + 4x = 4x \left( 1 + 2xy \right)$$
