(i) A number having only two factors is called a prime number.

Ex:

7 is a prime number.

factors of 7 are 1,7.
(ii) A number having more than two factors is called a composite number.

Ex:

4 is a composite number.

Factors of 4=1,2 and 4.
(iii) 1 is neither composite nor prime.

Since, the factor of 1 is itself only.
(iv) The smallest prime number is $2$.

Since, 2 is even and which has the factors only 1 and itself.
(v) The smallest composite number is 4.

Since, 1 is neither composite nor prime.

2,3 are the prime numbers.

So, the next number is 4 and which has the factors 1,2 and 4.
